The following are provided by our program:
1. Short term individual and small group counseling. Typically, we will see a student 4 times about a particular problem. We will coordinate good times with your child’s teacher to pull them for counseling. 2. Rotational classroom guidance lessons. Some topics include problem solving skills, how to resist bullies, self-esteem, and academic success. 3. We will work collaboratively with students, parents, and teachers to help students who may be struggling with behavior, emotional, and/or academic concerns. 4. We help to coordinate referrals to outside agencies for parents.
This website has been created to provide information for our school community to learn more about the counseling curriculum and services available at our school. Explore under the "Home" link to find general information about the program and elementary counselors. Additional tabs include information about specific programs, referral information, and resources that may be helpful for students and parents. By clicking the "Alston Ridge Home" tab you will be taken back to the main Alston Ridge website.
Communication between school counselors and parents is vital. If you have a concern about your child, you may call, email, and/or leave us a note. We will usually respond within two school days to discuss your concerns. If you have any questions about our counseling program, please email, call or visit the counseling website for updated information. We look forward to working with you in the coming year to help your child have a successful experience at Alston Ridge Elementary.
