Our entire school is learning about a 2 character traits each quarter. Each grade level has a book and short lesson discussing the character trait of the month, which is introduced by a Gallant Gator Reader. If you are interested in volunteering as a Gallant Gator Reader in your child's classroom, keep reading and please contact your room parent!
Gallant Gator Readers,
Thank you very much for volunteering to read and discuss character education with our students! Here are a few helpful hints if you are a new Gallant Gator Reader!
Before you volunteer: Lessons can be viewed online by clicking on the ‘Programs’ tab, then going to ‘Gallant Gator Readers’ on the Counselor Corner website. Due to limited copies we are unable to send books home prior to the lesson. Materials will need to be picked up in the Media Center before your designated reading time. Books, lessons, and posters are available in the cabinet immediately to your left as you enter the Media Center (pictures 1 and 2). Lesson plans and book sign-out/sign-in sheets are kept in the binders by grade level. Posters are kept below.
A few last tips… *The teacher stays in the classroom while you read to our students. *Younger students often enjoy being read to on the carpet. Classrooms have a designated area for read aloud you are welcome to use. *Head to the classroom! The lesson should be about 10-15 minutes.
